PITCH AND FLATPLANS

Introduction
My film is going to be a romanic comedy, which is going to be based in North-East England, in the heart of Seaburn. I am going to base my romantic comedy in the North-East because there aren't any films based in this area, by doing a film in the North-East it aims my film to a certain audience of people that live in this area.

Target Audience
The target audience for my programme is a teenage audience 15+. I have choose this age for my audience because I think that there aren't many films for this age, therefore there is a place on the market for my film. Also because of the characters that I am going to use which are going to be between 17-21 years old (the main characters), my target audience of 15+ will be able to relate with the characters more than people older or younger. By being able to relate with the characters this means that my audience can get more involved with the film and ask and answer questions about whats happening.  I am aiming my film for a main audience from the North-East regional film, by aiming it for this audience I can add humour into my film by adding regional slang and known phrases from this area.

Inspiration
I am inspired to do a romantic comedy by the films Love Actually and About Time, both films directed by Richard Curtis. Both films are romantic comedies which are based in London England.

Love Actually Trailer

This films inspires me because of the use of loads of characters and the films tells loads of different stories of peoples relationships.  Also the films drags me in because its a seasonal film that is based around christmas. It can't help but make people laugh because of the characters used and the language used in the trailer.

Analysis of the Trailer
I like this trailer because it starts off with a really upbeat song as soon as the trailer starts (respect by Aretha Franklin). The trailer then has a narrator over the top of the music showing other films that have been done by the director Richard Curtis, this then drags a certain target audience in who likes his films and can automatically make a bound with the characters that are in the trailer as Richard Curtis uses all the same actors, this shows familiarity to the audience, Richard Curtis living up to the expectations of his audience. When the screen cuts to black and "this holiday season" fades in, the colours that are used captures peoples attention as 'this' is in white, and then 'holiday season' in red, these are christmas colours, automatically the audience can realise that the film is a christmas film, the use of a pun with the colour and the word, can drag a attention in.
I like the sound effects that are used all the way through the trailer, the trailer seems to be built up on music and sound effects (christmas bells, lots of music). The sound effects used links in with the season theme, bells ringing, automatically makes people think of christmas and the audience can make a link.
The trailer uses fast cuts showing the 6 stories in 1 that are involved, shows the relationship's that are involved in the story, the audience then makes links and as the trailer goes on and they see actors with other and then they want to watch the film to see what happens. This drags a audience in because they want to know what happens next.
There is a lot of use of bright colours and natural light, the bright colours link in with the time of year it is, all the christmas lights also this links in with the season that its meant to be in the film.
The trailer keeps the audience involved in the 0.59second, the 'to me you are perfect'.
By doing this is keeps the viewer fully concentrated on the screen, as they need to read this, and for a good tailer I think that the viewer has to be fully focused on whats happening.
Richard Curtis uses well known characters and uses the same characters in all of his films therefore the audience can relate with the characters because he keeps them all the same in all of he films, e.g Hugh Grant.
The good thing about about the trailer is that it uses humour but doesn't give to much away e.g
"What's the best sex you've ever had?"
"Britney Spears, no only kidding... she was rubbish"
This makes people laugh and makes them want to see the film because of the use of humour.

About Time Trailer

I like the about time trailer because the colours are mainly really bright and natural lighting, this makes the trailer more happy. I also like the trailer because of the quick cuts from the movie trailer to text explaining and making the audience think about things that are being said.

Characters
I am going to have 4 main characters
Arthur - A boy that is aged 21

Music
The music that I am going to use on my trailer is going to be upbeat happy songs because of the genre of my trailer romantic comedy

I have chose to use the song 'All you need is love' because its a happy upbeat song that everyone knows and it's a song that you feel that you need to sing along to. By using this song it tells my audience that my film is a love genre and because of the kind of love song it is.

I also looked at other songs but none of the following i thought fit in with my genere as well as 'all you need is love' fit in with it.

Poster for the film
For my poster for the film i have decided to use a main background image of the characters that are invovled in the programme, dressed in bright colours to make them stand out, on a totally white background. I am also going to have the name of the film on the poster with details about the film and a pun (play on words) with what the film is about. I am going to have the characters standing or sitting with propps to make the poster stand out and a appeal to my target audience.
Here is a flat plan of my poster...

I have decided that i want the colour theme of my poster to be red black and white, and then they are going to be the colours that are mainly used in my image to, this is because I think that these colours stand out and also the colour red represents love and happiness in a sense and the genre of my film trailer is romantic comedy.
